Obverse description Square cast iron coin with rounded corners, featuring a central square perforation (cash-hole) surrounded by a raised inner rim. Four Chinese characters are arranged in cruciform fashion around the central hole, reading clockwise from the top: 仙 (top), 臺 (right), 寶 (bottom), 通 (left), forming the legend 仙臺通寶 (Sendai Tsūhō). The characters are rendered in a bold, angular style typical of Edo-period Japanese domain coinage. The obverse field is plain, framed by a raised outer border following the coin's rounded square profile.

Reverse description Plain cast iron reverse, exhibiting a smooth but slightly uneven surface consistent with sand-casting techniques of the period. A raised inner rim surrounds the central square perforation, mirroring the obverse construction. The field is entirely blank, devoid of any inscription, mintmark, or decorative element. The surface shows characteristic iron oxidation and casting marks typical of Sendai Domain emergency coinage.
