| Obverse description | Cast copper cash-type coin centred on a square perforation surrounded by a raised inner rim. The four-character reign title legend 寛平大寶 (Kanpyō Taihō) is arranged in regular script (kaisho) reading top-to-bottom, right-to-left around the central square hole: 寛 above, 平 to the right, 大 below, and 寶 to the left. The characters are rendered in bold, slightly irregular relief consistent with sand-cast production. An outer raised rim encircles the plain field, and the surfaces show characteristic dark patination with traces of green corrosion typical of early Japanese imperial coinage. |
