Reverse description Plain reverse displaying a large central square perforation with a raised square collar, enclosed within a raised circular inner rim and a plain outer rim. Above the square hole, the katakana character ト (To) is cast in relief in the upper field, serving as a mint or workshop identifier mark for the Mito Domain. The remainder of the field is unadorned, with a smooth but slightly granular surface characteristic of cast bronze coinage.
