| Beschrijving voorzijde | Hammered gold flan bearing a two-line Persian verse legend in bold Nasta'liq script, reading 'Hukm-i Shah Shuja' bar zar zad wa az mehr wa mah / gasht roshan chu khurshid wa mah,' proclaiming the sovereign authority of Shah Shuja' al-Mulk. The inscription fills the central field, divided by a horizontal rule into upper and lower registers. The irregular flan bears a beaded border around the periphery, characteristic of Durrani-period hammered gold coinage. The script is deeply struck with confident calligraphic strokes typical of early nineteenth-century Afghan mint production. |
