Obverse description The obverse displays the imperial titles of Shah Jahan in bold, deeply struck Naskh calligraphy arranged in three horizontal lines within a central cartouche or oval field. The legend reads 'Shah Jahan / Badshah Ghazi / Sahib-Qiran Thani', proclaiming the emperor as warrior-king and second Lord of the Auspicious Conjunction. The central cartouche is enclosed within an elaborate foliate border of interlacing floral and vine arabesques, characteristic of Mughal decorative artistry. A fine dotted inner border encircles the entire design, with the ornamental outer zone filling the field to the very rim. The overall composition reflects the refined calligraphic and artistic traditions of the Shahjahanabad imperial mint.
