| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse field is occupied entirely by a bold calligraphic Arabic legend arranged in three registers and framed above and below by characteristic Mughal-style double-line borders with foliate flourishes. The central field bears the imperial name and titles of Shah Alam II in flowing Naskh-influenced script, interspersed with decorative pellet clusters typical of late Mughal hammered gold coinage. The uppermost register carries an additional line of the royal titulature, while the lower register contains further inscriptional elements including the regnal formula. The overall composition reflects the established Mughal epigraphic tradition, with no pictorial imagery, the entire design being devoted to the proclamation of sovereign authority through calligraphy. |
