| Reverse description | The reverse presents the name and title of the issuing ruler, Mahmud Shah, rendered in bold and flowing Naskh-style Arabic calligraphy distributed across two principal registers in the field. The letters are characteristically broad and deeply struck, with pellet and foliate ornamental devices adorning the surrounding field in keeping with the decorative conventions of Durrani Afghan gold coinage. The border is plain and slightly irregular, consistent with the hand-struck hammered technique employed at the Ahmadshahi Mint. The overall design, while non-figural, conveys sovereign authority through the prominent display of the ruler's name. |
