Jahangir's zodiac mohurs rank among the most ambitious coinage projects of the Mughal period — the emperor commissioned a full series of twelve types corresponding to the solar months, each struck when the sun entered that sign. The Gemini type was produced at Agra between roughly 1025 and 1030 AH, during a reign defined more by painting, wine, and opium than by administration, which Nur Jahan largely ran on his behalf.
These zodiac pieces were almost certainly gifts and court presentations rather than commerce. Circulated examples are the exception.
