Obverse description The entire field is occupied by a multi-line Arabic calligraphic legend arranged in three horizontal registers, separated by raised linear bands, and enclosed within a toothed or grained border. The central band bears the epithet 'Nur al-Din' in prominent Naskh script. The upper register contains the royal title 'Shah Hasan Iskandar' and the lower register reads 'Ibn al-Marhum' (Son of the Forgiven), collectively identifying the reigning Sultan Hassan Nooraddeen I. Decorative dot groupings and lozenge ornaments are interspersed between the letter forms to fill the field.
