The entire surface is densely covered with deeply cut Arabic script with no figurative imagery, consistent with orthodox Islamic coinage tradition as practised at the Mughal imperial mints. |

The upper and lower registers contain shorter inscriptions denoting the regnal title and mint or date information, while the broad central register carries the principal legend recording the name and titles of Emperor Akbar. The deeply incised calligraphy is characteristic of the Lahore mint workshop of the late sixteenth century, with no decorative border or inner circle, the script occupying virtually the entire flat field. |
