| Obverse description | The obverse field is entirely occupied by the Islamic profession of faith (Kalima) executed in bold, deeply struck Naskh calligraphy across three horizontal registers. The central legend reads 'La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammad rasul Allah' (There is no god but God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God), the Sunni shahada. Below, the names of the four Rightly Guided Caliphs — Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali — are inscribed in two lines, reflecting Akbar's early orthodox Sunni coinage convention. A decorative floral or star ornament is visible to the left of the field, and a linear border frames the circumference of the irregular flan. |
