Girvan Yuddha Bikram Shah came to the throne as an infant in 1799, and the coins struck in his name span a period when Nepal was navigating serious external pressure — most critically the Anglo-Nepalese War of 1814–16, which ended with the Sugauli Treaty and permanently ceded roughly a third of Nepalese territory to the East India Company. Mohars of this reign were hand-struck using traditional Nepalese hammer techniques at the Kathmandu mint, with the irregular fabric and off-center strikes that method routinely produced.
The treaty's conclusion in 1816 effectively ended this coin type's production run.
