备注

J.L. Hudson Company was a Detroit department store institution — at its peak, the flagship on Woodward Avenue was the tallest department store in the world and second largest by floor space only to Macy's Herald Square. This "note" is pure promotional ephemera, issued as an advertising novelty rather than any form of scrip or token currency. Hudson's produced items like this throughout the mid-twentieth century as giveaways and keepsakes, trading on the fantasy of the million-dollar denomination that the U.S. government has never officially printed for circulation.

The store itself was demolished in 1998, making surviving Hudson's memorabilia increasingly collectible among Detroit history enthusiasts rather than currency specialists.
