| 裏面の説明 | The numeral 1 in large relief dominates the central field, flanked on either side by olive branches bearing fruit, forming an open wreath that frames the denomination. Below the numeral, the Arabic legend مليم واحد (one millime) is inscribed across the lower central field. The Latin legends XXI CENTURY and FOOD SECURITY arc along the left and right periphery respectively, with FAO inscribed at the base between two dots, referencing the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. |

Issued under the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization coin program, which ran from the late 1960s onward and enlisted central banks worldwide to mint small-denomination pieces carrying agricultural themes as a form of soft development messaging. Tunisia participated repeatedly across several decades. By 1999, the millim's purchasing power had eroded to near-nothing — a single US dollar bought roughly 1,200 millim — making this aluminium piece functionally symbolic long before it left the mint.
