Obverse description Black intaglio on polychrome lithographic underprint. A vignette of the Petrópolis Imperial Palace occupies the left portion of the note, while an allegorical angel figure appears to the right. The design combines chalcographic engraving with lithographic color work in a style typical of American Bank Note Company production of the period.

Reverse description Printed in black and green, combining intaglio and lithographic techniques. The central vignette presents the equestrian statue of Dom Pedro I in fine chalcographic engraving, set on a decorated pedestal, framed by an arched border and surrounded by dense green guilloche panels at the corners. A scrolling ribbon banner carries the inscription across the upper field, with the word BRAZIL in bold lettering along the lower border and the printer's imprint at the foot.
