Obverse description The cantonal arms of Ticino — a vertically striped shield surmounted by a radiant sun — are displayed centrally within a symmetrical laurel wreath tied at the base. The legend CANTONE TICINO arcs around the shield in two segments, divided by small rosette stops at the sides. The date 1835 appears in the exergue below the wreath, flanked by small star ornaments. The design is executed in a clean neoclassical style with fine relief, the reeded border framing the entire composition.

Reverse description The denomination 1 MEZZO FRANCO is inscribed in three lines across the centre of the field, with the numeral '1' positioned above 'MEZZO' and 'FRANCO' below. The inscription is enclosed within a wreath of oak branches, tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The wreath is rendered with fine naturalistic detail, and the reeded border surrounds the entire design. The composition is restrained and typographic in character, typical of early Swiss cantonal coinage.
