The 1912 date places this piece in the final months before the Treaty of Fez, signed March 30th of that year, which established the French Protectorate and effectively ended Moroccan monetary independence. Issues under Yusuf's name continued after the protectorate was formalized, but the administrative machinery behind them shifted rapidly to French oversight. The mazuna denomination itself was already a fractional unit of limited practical value by this point.
