Reverse description The reverse is entirely occupied by a multi-line royal legend in Sinhala script, densely filling the field in three to four horizontal registers. The inscription reads 'Sri mat Sahassa Malla', identifying the issuing monarch Sahassa Malla (reigned 1200–1202). The lettering is boldly struck in high relief, characteristic of the hammered copper coinage of the Polonnaruwa kingdom. A beaded border encircles the entire reverse field. The overall execution is consistent with the epigraphic mass coinage of late Polonnaruwa rulers.
