1 Mark Verein Naturschutzpark/Heidepark

The Verein Naturschutzpark was founded in 1909 to protect the Lüneburger Heide, and by 1921 the organization was issuing its own Notgeld — emergency scrip — to fund conservation work during a period when conventional fundraising was essentially impossible amid postwar inflation and economic collapse. This note is an unusual example of a private conservation body issuing currency, a mechanism more commonly associated with municipalities and commercial enterprises during the German Notgeld period.

The "Heidepark" designation links it specifically to the managed heathland reserve, not the Stuttgart headquarters of the issuing body.
