The Stadtsoldaten-Corps Bonn was a carnival and civic guard association — not a military body — and its 1922 notgeld issue belongs to the tail end of Germany's municipal emergency currency period. By 1922 the Reichsbank was already losing the fight against inflation, and small associations, clubs, and societies across the Rhineland were issuing their own scrip partly out of genuine necessity and partly as collector bait. The Corps issue falls somewhere between the two.
Rhenania-Druckerei was a local Bonn printer responsible for a number of Rhineland notgeld pieces from this period. Jean Riek's signature as signatory is consistent with an organizational treasurer or chairman role within the Corps.
