Grünberg — now Zielona Góra in western Poland — issued this porcelain notgeld in 1921 as Germany's postwar coin shortage stretched well into the early Weimar years. Porcelain coinage was produced almost exclusively by the Meissen manufactory under contract with municipalities and private entities across Saxony and Silesia, with brown glazing used as a deliberate compositional marker to distinguish denominations from the white and polychrome issues in the same series.
