| Description de l’avers | The obverse is dominated by a large oval guilloche underprint in blue and red, at the centre of which the denomination EINE DEUTSCHE MARK is printed in bold red capital letters. The cursive title Bundeskassenschein appears at the top, while the issuer inscription BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND runs along the lower edge of the guilloche. A stylised numeral '1' vignette in red is printed to the upper right outside the guilloche, accompanied by the text DEUTSCHE MARK. The serial number appears at the bottom centre in red. |

The denomination DEUTSCHE MARK is inscribed in brown below the central vignette. A cautionary anti-counterfeiting legend runs along the bottom edge in brown. The upper left corner repeats the numeral '1' motif with the DEUTSCHE MARK inscription in blue. |
