| 裏面の説明 | The reverse is printed on an ochre-orange ground and carries a bold central vignette in dark blue intaglio-style lithography of an armoured knight astride a writhing multi-headed hydra, sword raised in the act of striking. Denomination numerals '1' appear at upper left and right flanking the issuer heading, while a decorative scroll panel at the foot encloses a two-line verse quotation in Gothic script, with the artist's signature 'Otto Thämer' and a literary attribution to Liliencron at lower right. |

Altrahlstedt was a small community north of Hamburg that had not yet been absorbed into the city — that incorporation came in 1937 — and in 1922 its cultural society issued this note as part of the wave of municipal and private notgeld that flooded northern Germany during the hyperinflationary spiral. The Detlev v. Liliencron-Gesellschaft took its name from the Schleswig-Holstein poet Detlev von Liliencron, who had died in 1909 and retained genuine regional reverence in the Hamburg periphery.
Otto Thämer, the designer, was active in Hamburg graphic circles during the notgeld period. Whether he had any personal connection to the Liliencron society is unrecorded.
