| 裏面の説明 | The reverse is printed in olive-green and terracotta tones, with panels of stylized oak-leaf foliage filling the upper corners flanking a central circular vignette. The vignette portrays a hiker in traditional dress striding through a mountainous Rhön landscape, walking stick in hand, with a village church visible in the background. Denomination numerals 1 MK. appear in rectangular frames to the left and right of the vignette, while the lower panel carries a four-line verse in capital letters. |

Dermbach is a small town in the Rhön uplands of Thuringia, and this 1921 Notgeld issue reflects the acute small-change shortage that plagued German municipalities following the First World War. Local authorities — Gemeinden, towns, even individual businesses — were legally permitted to fill the gap left by hoarded coins, and thousands did exactly that. The Rhöngemeinde Dermbach was among the more modest issuers, producing notes at the lower denominations where the shortage bit hardest.
DeNG 1#264.1 places this within the standard Serienscheine documentation framework, though Dermbach's series attracted little collector speculation at the time of issue.
