Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, a crowned oval shield bearing the quartered arms of Denmark is superimposed on a cross, the whole enclosed by a rope border. The royal legend in Latin is arranged in four segments between the arms of the cross, reading outward in the surrounding field. The overall design is characteristic of early seventeenth-century Danish hammered silver coinage.
