Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborately interlaced royal cypher of Christian V — the crowned monogram formed by intertwined C5 cyphers in Baroque style — surmounted by a large royal crown with cross finial and flanked by the peripheral legend. A dotted inner border runs along the rim, and the mint-master's initials appear at the base of the field. The monogram is rendered in high relief with ornate interlacing characteristic of late 17th-century Danish minting style.
Obverse script Latin

Reverse description Central device consists of the Norwegian lion rampant within an oval cartouche or shield, crowned by a royal crown with cross finial, the lion holding an axe — the traditional arms of Norway. The shield is flanked by the mint-master's initials HC and the mint mark M. The peripheral legend encircles the design, incorporating the denomination, the word DANSKE, and the date 1688, all separated by pellets. A dotted inner border frames the legend.
