A crowned oval countermark bearing the crowned royal cypher of Carl XII is applied to the lower field, partially overlapping the bust. The countermark, punched in 1705 by authority of the City of Riga, revalidates the host coin for emergency circulation. The legend encircles the effigy and reads CAROLVS XI D:G: REX SVE. |

A mintmaster's initial mark appears in the exergue area. |
