Pasing was an independent Bavarian city until its forced incorporation into Munich in 1938. This Notgeld piece — issued over a remarkably long window stretching from the inflationary chaos of the war's end through the relative stabilization of the late Weimar years — reflects the chronic distrust smaller municipalities had toward centrally issued currency. The local printer Meindl, operating within the town itself, kept production close and accountable.
A ten-year issue span for a single denomination is unusual. Most emergency municipal issues were obsolete within months.
