The left scene shows a farmer standing defiantly beside a black-white-red German imperial flag planted in an open field with a farmstead in the distance; the right scene shows jubilant townspeople raising the Danish Dannebrog flag on a flagpole before a thatched farmhouse, with a rising sun in the upper right corner. Lettering in Gothic blackletter script fills the lower margins of both panels, referencing the Schleswig plebiscite of 10 February 1920. |
