Estonia's 1926 coinage program was part of the young republic's broader effort to stabilize the mark after years of post-WWI monetary chaos, though the mark itself would be replaced by the kroon just two years later in 1928, rendering this series short-lived by design. The nickel-brass composition was a deliberate economy measure — Estonia had no domestic metal industry capable of sustaining silver coinage at scale.
KM#5 is the only year of issue for this type in this composition.
