Reverse description The back is similarly divided into three vertical panels: the central panel presents a detailed vignette of the Klosterkirche Kreuzberg (monastery church, founded 1191) rendered in a flat graphic style with red rooftops and bare winter trees, with the artist's signature "B. Metz" at the lower right; the left panel contains a full-length figure of St. Katharina in medieval ecclesiastical robes, holding a sword and palm frond, labelled "St. Kätharina" above and "Eine Mark" below; the right panel shows a fully armoured Teutonic Knight bearing a cross-charged shield, identified as "Ritter v. Cruzeber" with "Eine Mark" below. The place name "Philippsthal a. d. Werra" runs along the lower margin in Gothic lettering.
