| Obverse description | Salmon-toned note with a dark blue Gothic text border running along all four margins, each side carrying a different satirical verse in German. The central field bears two blue heraldic shields flanking the bold Gothic inscription NOTGELD der STADT CALBE a.d.S., with the numeral 1 at left and the abbreviation M at right rendered in matching shield vignettes. Below, validity text in red Gothic script reads Gültig bis 4 Wochen nach öffentlichem Aufruf, followed by the issuing authority der Magistrat, four facsimile signatures, a red wax-seal vignette of a city gate at lower right, a series letter F, and a handwritten serial number at lower left. |

| Reverse description | The reverse is dominated by a large central colour vignette of a riverside townscape along the Saale, with multi-storey buildings and red-tiled roofs set behind a broad weir over which water cascades in the foreground, framed by a dark navy border. The denomination numeral 1 and the abbreviation M appear in stylised Gothic letterforms in each corner of the border. Below the vignette, a four-line German verse in Gothic script is printed, accompanied by a handwritten artist's signature, and the printer's imprint appears at the very foot of the note. |
