Bückeburg was the capital of the tiny state of Schaumburg-Lippe, one of the smallest sovereign territories to survive into the Weimar Republic. This 1921 note belongs to the wave of municipal Notgeld that flooded Germany as small towns and cities stepped in to fill the coin vacuum caused by metal hoarding and postwar disruption — the Reichsbank simply could not keep fractional currency in circulation fast enough.
H.M. Hauschild in Bremen was a prolific Notgeld printer, handling commissions from municipalities across northern Germany. The DeNG reference suggests multiple varieties exist within this issue — collectors should verify serial or color differences before attributing to a specific subtype.
