| Opmerkingen |
Genthin is a small town in the Magdeburg district of Saxony-Anhalt, and its 1921 notgeld issue belongs to the second wave of German municipal emergency money — produced not under the acute wartime chaos of 1914–1918 but during the inflationary grind that followed. By 1921, municipal issuers had become increasingly sophisticated, and Alfred Hanf of Erfurt was a regional printer who handled a number of these smaller Thuringian and Saxon commissions.
The 1 Mark denomination places this at the cusp of relevance — within two years, the hyperinflation would render it worthless long before any redemption date.
