The upper portion carries the denomination '1M' in large red script alongside the cursive title 'Gutschein der Gemeinde Holnis', beneath which a panoramic landscape vignette in fine line-engraving style presents a view across the Flensburg Fjord with rolling dunes in the foreground and the Danish ironclad Rolf Krake under steam and sail in the middle distance, captioned 'ROLF KRAKE AUF DER FLUCHT'.
