Opmerkingen

Alfeld an der Leine is a small industrial town in Lower Saxony, best known today for the Fagus Factory — but in 1918 it was issuing Notgeld like hundreds of other German municipalities scrambling to fill the coin shortage created by wartime hoarding and metal requisitioning. The Reichsbank simply could not keep small denominations in circulation.

J. C. König & Ebhardt were a Hanover printing house with a long commercial stationery background, pressed into service for municipal emergency currency across the region. Their output was competent but not distinguished.
