Obverse description Crowned royal cypher of George II occupies the central field, composed of an interlaced 'GR' (Georgius Rex) monogram beneath an ornate electoral crown. The design is rendered in bold relief with the crown's arches and jewelled band clearly articulated. The field surrounding the cypher is plain, with no peripheral legend, consistent with the abbreviated obverse lettering style of Hanoverian subsidiary coinage of this period.
