Obverse description Central field dominated by a large Gothic letter 'N' superimposed upon a long cross, the arms of which extend toward the inner beaded border. The circular Latin legend surrounding the device reads the mint authority of Northeim and concludes with the date of issue. The design is rendered in the hammered style typical of mid-16th-century German municipal coinage.
