| Beschrijving voorzijde | A stylized figure of a clown or harlequin in dynamic pose, arms raised and legs splayed, depicted in low relief against a plain field. The figure is rendered in a bold, modernist graphic style, evoking the festive spirit of the Versilia Riviera. The curved legend RIVIERA DELLA VERSILIA arcs along the upper periphery within a dashed border. In the lower left field, the inscription ITALIA 72 appears in small characters, while the denomination 1 MARENGO is placed in the lower right; the engraver's initials SBC are visible at the bottom of the field. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The Marengo Riviera della Versilia belongs to a wave of Italian regional fantasy strike issues produced in the early 1970s, struck by private mints and marketed to collectors rather than ever intended for circulation. The "Marengo" name trades on the original Napoleonic gold 20-franc piece struck after the 1800 Battle of Marengo, though these silver regionals share nothing with that coinage beyond the borrowed name.
