Reverse description The reverse presents a frontal enthroned figure of Christ in Majesty (Christ Pantocrator), seated upon an elaborate throne with decorative columns or canopy elements visible to either side, his right hand raised in benediction and his left holding the Gospels. The Christogram IC-XC, the traditional Greek abbreviation for Jesus Christ, appears flanking the central figure in the field. The surrounding Latin legend TIBI SOLI GLORIA, meaning 'To Thee alone be glory,' frames the composition, expressing the devotional character that defines Venetian religious coinage of the Marcello series.
