Turkmenistan's polymer series has been issued in stages since 2017, when the Central Bank first contracted De La Rue to produce polymer substrate notes — a move driven more by prestige and durability targets than by any counterfeit pressure on the manat. The "Year of Peace and Trust" designation follows the government's practice of theming each calendar year officially, a formality that gets stamped into commemorative and circulating issues alike. Whether this 1 Manat piece is intended for general circulation or functions primarily as a collector-oriented release remains, at time of cataloging, unclear from available documentation.
At 120 × 60 mm, the format is unusually small even by polymer standards — worth noting when sleeving.
