Le Lupi is a local complementary currency issued by the Région du Centre in Hainaut, western Belgium — one of several dozen such schemes that emerged across the French-speaking provinces after 2010, modeled loosely on the better-known Zinne in Brussels and the Valeureux in Liège. These notes circulate exclusively among participating merchants within a defined geographic zone, deliberately non-convertible to euros to prevent hoarding and encourage local economic velocity.
