Obverse description Draped and armoured bust of Napoleone Spinola to right, rendered in the baroque manner characteristic of Italian feudal luigino coinage, with long flowing hair falling to the shoulder and an ornate gorget visible at the bust truncation. The encircling legend reads NEAPO SPIN MAR ROC, identifying the sitter as Napoleone Spinola, Marquis of Rocchetta. The denomination indicator V S 8 appears in the lower field beneath the truncation.

Reverse description A displayed double-headed eagle with wings spread, surmounted by an imperial crown, the breast charged with a quartered shield bearing the arms of the Spinola family. The divided date flanks the central shield, with 16 to the left and 69 to the right. The circumscribed legend ET R S IMP COM RONCHI D ET C records the issuer's imperial and comital titles, running clockwise within a beaded border.
