Reverse description Two conjoined oval shields, surmounted by a royal crown, occupy the centre of the field: the dexter shield bears the fleurs-de-lis of France, while the sinister shield displays the chain of Navarre. The date 1782 and the mint letter H for La Rochelle appear in the lower portion of the field. The surrounding Latin legend, divided across the coin's circumference and read in the conventional manner, proclaims CHR REGN VINC IMPER — Christus regnat, vincit, imperat — Christ reigns, conquers, commands. A beaded border frames the design.
