Obverse description Bare-headed, draped bust of Louis XV facing left, engraved in the classical style by J-C Röettiers. The legend commences at approximately the 7 o'clock position, encircling the effigy. The mintmaster's privy mark appears in the exergue beneath the royal bust. The portrait conveys the formal regality characteristic of early 18th-century French royal coinage.
