Beschrijving keerzijde Central design features a large numeral '1' superimposed over two symmetrically displayed cannabis leaves, their serrated lobes spread to either side in a heraldic fashion. Below, a detailed snail in profile is depicted at the center of a ribbon-like banner, flanked by two smaller decorative elements. The denomination LØN appears in bold letters along the lower margin of the banner. The coin's border is formed by a continuous row of raised beads or serrations, echoing the gear motif of the obverse.

Aanvullende informatie

Freetown Christiania, the self-declared autonomous neighborhood in Copenhagen, has issued its own coinage intermittently since the 1970s as a deliberate assertion of independence from the Danish state. These pieces circulate internally among the commune's roughly 900 residents and are occasionally accepted at businesses within the settlement's boundaries. The Danish government has tolerated Christiania's existence under a series of uneasy legal arrangements, the most recent of which saw the residents collectively purchase the land in 2011 after decades of threatened eviction.

The 2016 issues correspond to an updated series following that normalization agreement.
