| 正面描述 | The obverse displays a stylised rendition of the Vytis (Knight) in the manner of 16th-century heraldic tradition, positioned centrally within the field. The circular legend LIETUVA (Lithuania) arcs around the upper periphery, while the denomination 1 LITAS appears in the lower field alongside the four-digit date 2005 and the Lithuanian Mint monogram LMK. The design is executed in low relief with clean, modernised lines characteristic of contemporary Lithuanian coinage. |

The Lower Castle in Vilnius — the Royal Palace of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania — was systematically demolished by Tsarist authorities in the early 19th century, its stones repurposed for other construction projects. The decision to rebuild it was contentious for years, with debates over archaeological authenticity and cost stretching through most of the 1990s. Construction finally began in 2002, and this coin appeared mid-project, well before the palace's completion in 2009.
