| 表面の説明 | The obverse features a large, stylized Arabic calligraphic design occupying the central field, rendering the word 'Lubnan' (Lebanon) in an artistic, flowing script arranged within a triangular composition. The peripheral legend reads 'REPUBLIQUE LIBANAISE' in Latin script and 'الجمهورية اللبنانية' in Arabic, flanking the date '1980' and the denomination '1 L.L.' with its Arabic equivalent '١ ل.ل.' The design is bold and modern, with deeply incised lines giving the calligraphic motif a sculptural quality against the smooth field. |

Lebanon issued this commemorative in 1980 for the XIII Winter Olympics held in Lake Placid, New York — a Games overshadowed by the U.S.-led boycott movement following the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, though that boycott targeted the Summer Games in Moscow rather than Lake Placid. The timing placed Banque du Liban in the unusual position of issuing an Olympic coin during one of the most politically fractured moments in the Games' modern history.
Lebanon was itself in the midst of civil war when the dies were cut.
