Beschrijving voorzijde Central device depicts the Cedar of Lebanon, the national symbol, rendered in bold relief with a broad, layered canopy and a sturdy trunk occupying the majority of the field. The Arabic legend 'مصرف لبنان' arcs across the upper portion of the coin, flanked by two five-pointed stars at the mid-left and mid-right. The Latin legend 'BANQUE DU LIBAN' curves along the lower periphery, with the dual date '1968·١٩٦٨' inscribed in the lower field beneath the tree. The coin is bordered by a continuous ring of beading near the rim.

Aanvullende informatie

Issued as part of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization coin program, which ran through the late 1960s and 1970s and enlisted central banks worldwide to mint coins carrying agricultural development messaging. Lebanon's participation came during a period of relative economic stability — the Banque du Liban had only been established in 1964, replacing the Banque de Syrie et du Liban as the sole currency authority following Lebanon's full monetary independence.

FAO issues from this era are frequently dismissed as novelties, but many entered genuine circulation rather than souvenir channels.
