Mustafa I ruled twice — briefly in 1617–18, then again in 1622–23 — and was deposed both times, spending much of his life confined to the kafes, the Ottoman palace cage system used to isolate potential dynastic rivals. His inclusion in this commemorative series reflects a broader Turkish Mint effort to work through the full Ottoman sultan roster, unremarkable reigns included.
